一项调查显示，香港英语水平属中级，排名低于新加坡、菲律宾、马来西亚，不少外国人表示听港式英文有难度。《星岛申诉王》主持潘梓峰 (Bryan)访问一众外国人，考考他们对港式英文有多熟悉。

访问结果显示，外国人对＂Add oil＂都能理解为“加油”的意思。其次”Laugh die me”，大致也能推断为“笑死我”的意思。至于”Two five boy”、”People mountain people sea” 就完全没有外国人明白当中意思。”Hea”比较为港式俗语，但亦有外国人明白。
